When it comes to facial aesthetics and anti-ageing treatments, we all want to look our best – and for our fantastic results to last as long as possible! Our talented team here at our Leamington Spa dental practice are well-versed in a range of beauty treatments that can help you look and feel better than you thought possible. Today, we’ll focus on lip fillers, covering how long results last, what your treatment journey looks like and reasons to invest in them for the future.
Lip filler results
Our clients love their lip filler results, which can last between 6-18 months, depending on where is injected and how much filler is used. You can also arrange for top-ups when the results start to fade, giving them greater longevity. Many patients experience immediate results, too.
Reasons for choosing lip fillers
With age, our skin can become thin, wrinkled and sagging, causing visible lines around the mouth, as well as thin lips (and some people, of course, have naturally slimmer lips). With lip fillers, it’s possible to enhance both the fullness of lips, and the overall definition, to create a more aesthetic shape and correct thinness and asymmetry.
Treatment in a nutshell
Lip filler treatment is easy and relatively comfortable. A numbing chemical can help prevent any pain during the injections, while fine needles are used to minimise any discomfort and help reduce the chances of bruising afterwards. We will always start treatment with a consultation to determine if lip fillers are right for you, and will end with aftercare advice, which can help prevent side-effects while prolonging your results.
Side-effects & downtime
As with all aesthetic treatments, there’s the possibility for side-effects. Those most common with lip fillers include swelling, bruising, redness and tenderness. Serious side-effects are extremely rare. As for downtime, there’s zero – you can go straight back to work following your lip filler treatment.
Lip filler aftercare
To keep lips in tip-top condition, we recommend the following:
* Managing pain with over-the-counter medicines, such as paracetamol
* Protecting the lips from the sun (SPF lip balm)
* Avoiding heat treatments (spa, sauna) which could cause swelling
* Avoiding alcohol and make-up for the first 24 hours
* Avoiding exercise for the first 24 hours
